Sunbury Generation LLC was formerly owned by Pennsylvania Power & Light, bought by Wisconsin Public Service (WPS) in 1999, and by Corona Power in 2006. The power plant was developed and built by Panda Power Funds and Sunbury Generation LP and is now under the ownership of LS Power Equity Advisors. The pipeline serves Hummel Station, a natural gas-fueled power plant which was constructed in 2018 at the existing site of the coal-fired Sunbury Generation facility near Shamokin Dam in Snyder County. During construction, the pipeline created approximately 500 jobs. It also interconnects with the local natural gas distribution facilities of UGI Central Penn Gas (“UGI CPG”) in Northumberland County and has an initial design capacity of 200,000 dekatherms per day (“Dth/d”). The Project interconnects with Transcontinental Gas Pipe Line Company (“Transco”) and the MARC I Pipeline (“MARC I”) in Lycoming County, Pennsylvania, and extends to Hummel Station in Snyder County, Pennsylvania. The Sunbury Pipeline is a federally regulated, 35-mile, 20-inch pipeline with related facilities located in Snyder, Union, Northumberland, Montour, and Lycoming Counties, Pennsylvania. The pipeline went in-service in early 2017.
